How to set up LayerSeven TV on Android

Android phones and tablets are the quickest way to get LayerSeven TV running — most people are watching within about five minutes. There are two routes: our own app, which activates with nothing but your username and password, or a general IPTV player from the Play Store, which needs the server address as well. The steps below cover both, and everything here applies to Android 7 and newer.

checklistBefore you start

  • An Android phone or tablet running Android 7.0 or newer
  • The subscription email with your username, password and server URL
  • A stable connection — 15 Mbps or better for 4K streams

Step-by-Step Setup

Android Installation

1
download

Download LayerSeven TV or a Player

Download LayerSeven TV from our Downloads page. It is not on the Play Store, so your browser will ask permission to install it: tap Settings on that prompt, allow installs from your browser, then go back and open the file. If you would rather use a general player, open the Play Store instead and install IPTV Smarters Pro, TiviMate or XCIPTV.

2
login

Open the App & Login

Launch the app once it finishes installing. With LayerSeven TV, type the username and password from your subscription email and tap Login — it activates itself, with nothing more to pay. With a general player, choose "Xtream Codes API" rather than M3U, then fill in the server URL, username and password exactly as they appear in the email. Xtream Codes is worth choosing because it brings the TV guide and the on-demand library across; a plain M3U link brings only the channel list.

3
sync

Wait for Content to Load

The first sync pulls down your channel list, the EPG — the on-screen TV guide — and the film and series library. It usually takes ten to thirty seconds, and longer on a slow connection, because the guide alone can run to several days of listings. Let it finish before you start browsing; interrupting it is the most common reason the guide looks empty afterwards.

4
star

Set Up Favourites

Long-press any channel to add it to Favourites. It is worth doing straight away: the full list runs to tens of thousands of channels and scrolling it on a phone gets old fast. Most players also let you hide whole categories you will never watch, which makes everything load and navigate more quickly.

5
play_circle

Start Watching

Browse by category, use the search box, or open the guide to see what is on now and next. Streams play in HD, Full HD or 4K wherever the channel provides it — the player picks automatically, and you can force a lower quality from the playback menu if your connection is having a bad day.

Fixes specific to Android

The install fails with "App not installed"

Almost always an older copy of the same app still on the device. Uninstall it from Settings > Apps and install again. If it still fails, clear the Package Installer cache: Settings > Apps > Show system apps > Package Installer > Storage.

Channels buffer on mobile data but not on Wi-Fi

Mobile networks throttle sustained video. Drop the stream quality in the player settings, or connect to a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network where you can — the 2.4 GHz band is usually too congested for reliable 4K.

The TV guide is empty

The EPG downloads separately from the channel list and can take a few minutes on first run. Force it from the player settings — usually "Refresh EPG" or "Update guide" — and leave the app open while it finishes.
